The short version

You do not need technical expertise to make a smart decision. You need a contractor willing to explain the important details.

About the contractor

Start with the basics. You are inviting a team into your home, business or build, so it is reasonable to understand who will manage the project and who will carry out the installation.

  • How long have you been installing resin or epoxy systems?
  • Will your own team complete the work?
  • Can you show completed projects similar to mine?
  • Are the business details and payment terms included in writing?

About the floor system

Ask the contractor to describe the system in a way you can understand. You should know what the finish is designed to handle and why it is being recommended for your room.

  • Which system are you proposing and why?
  • What layers and topcoats are included?
  • What finish options and sample process are available?
  • How will the surface perform in my specific environment?

About preparation and risk

This is where vague proposals often reveal themselves. The contractor should be prepared to discuss the actual slab and what happens if the conditions are not as expected.

  • How will the concrete be prepared?
  • How are cracks, joints, oil and previous coatings handled?
  • How will moisture be assessed?
  • What could change the scope or cost after preparation starts?

About timing and aftercare

Make sure the programme works for your life or business. The floor may look finished before it is ready for full use, and those cure times should be part of the plan.

  • How long will the space be unavailable?
  • When can people, furniture, vehicles or equipment return?
  • What cleaning products and care routine are recommended?
  • What support or workmanship information is provided at handover?
