How to care for an epoxy floor and keep it looking refined
The right cleaning habits protect the finish, reduce wear and help your floor stay as considered as the day it was installed.
The short version
Regular gentle cleaning is better than aggressive products. Protect high-traffic areas and follow the system-specific care advice provided at handover.
Keep the everyday routine simple
Most finished resin floors benefit from regular dust removal and a gentle clean with a suitable neutral cleaner. The exact product should follow the system and topcoat used, but the principle is consistent: remove grit before it becomes abrasion and deal with spills before they sit.
Avoid harsh shortcuts
Abrasive pads, aggressive solvents, highly acidic products and unknown degreasers can change the appearance or reduce the life of the protective layer. If you are unsure whether a product is suitable, check before using it across the whole floor.
- Use soft cleaning tools rather than abrasive scourers.
- Lift heavy items instead of dragging them across the surface.
- Use suitable mats at external entries where grit can be tracked in.
- Clean chemical or automotive spills promptly.
Garages need a little extra care
Garage floors see grit, tyres, tools, oil and sudden temperature changes. Sweeping regularly, using a suitable mat under leak-prone equipment and avoiding metal dragging can make a noticeable difference to the surface over time.
Ask for the handover advice
A professional installation should come with practical guidance for cleaning, cure times, furniture, vehicles and any system-specific limitations. Keep that information so future cleaning or repairs are based on the actual floor installed.
