How to choose the right epoxy flooring system for your space
Metallic, flake, garage, commercial, decorative resin or polyurethane — the right choice starts with how the space performs.
The short version
Start with use, exposure and maintenance. The visual direction comes after the performance brief, not before it.
Start with the room, not the trend
The best-looking floor is the one that continues to suit the room after the novelty wears off. Consider foot traffic, vehicles, dropped tools, sunlight, cleaning products, moisture, slip expectations and the visual relationship with the rest of the property.
Once those requirements are clear, the design can be narrowed down with confidence.
Metallic epoxy for expressive interiors
Metallic systems create movement, depth and variation across the floor. They are a strong choice for statement interiors, showrooms, entries, living areas and hospitality spaces where the floor is part of the design language.
Because every pour is individual, sample discussions and a clear understanding of colour movement are important. A digital colour swatch cannot show the full effect of a large continuous surface.
Flake systems for practical texture and disguise
Flake floors are popular where a resilient, practical and forgiving finish matters. The broadcast flakes add visual texture and can help disguise everyday dust and small marks, while the topcoat determines the final feel and protection.
They are often considered for garages, workshops, utility areas and other spaces where cleanability and day-to-day toughness are priorities.
Commercial and polyurethane considerations
Commercial areas need a system designed around traffic, downtime, cleaning and the operating environment. A polyurethane topcoat may be considered where UV stability, chemical resistance or a different finish feel is important.
There is no universal best product. The useful question is which system is appropriate for the exposure and the maintenance plan of your specific space.
The brief we use to guide recommendations
We ask how the space is used, who uses it, what the slab is like, how quickly it needs to return to service and what look you want to live with. Those answers lead to a more reliable recommendation than choosing from a product name alone.
